Who is Joe Blomquist?
Joe Blomquist is a proud father of two, a business owner, and a dedicated resident of Deer Park for over 20 years. Joe grew up in New York and spent childhood summers in Cincinnati until better schools and opportunities drew him to move to the Queen City with his father. When he and his wife were deciding where to put down roots, they knew Deer Park was the perfect place for their growing family. The tight-knit community, small-town feel, and strong schools immediately drew them in, and they have not looked back since.
As a musician and small business owner, Joe has always been approachable to those around him. He enjoys meeting people and learning about their stories. As a child, his grandfather taught him that “fortune favors the brave” and the importance of honor. He knows that honor is demonstrated through action, not by words, and that means following through on what you promise to do.
Throughout his life, Joe has seen the ups and downs of struggle, faced hard times, and used the lessons learned through hardship to navigate to clearer waters for himself and his family. Through all of this, he learned to look at the “bigger picture” perspective in many situations, and be open minded to many points of view. He welcomes all avenues to find solutions in different and innovative ways.
Joe is focused on the future of Deer Park. As a father, he is focused on supporting Deer Park schools and giving a voice to all parents in the district. Joe is committed to being accessible to all people, not just at City Council meetings, so that residents of Deer Park always have a way to reach out to him to voice their concerns or get the help they need.
He wants to ensure the wonderful community and its schools are able to grow and evolve with time so that all people are drawn to it, just as he and his wife were 20 years ago.
When Joe is not working, you will find him spending time with his family, making music, writing, or cooking the ethnic cuisines taught to him by his expansive family.
